At GetOut we are passionate that all children should have access to their local natural spaces to play and learn in. We believe that spending quality time outside should be integrated into all schools and that children should have the chance to learn about nature throughout the seasons. We can provide regular whole class Forest School sessions, working with schools to link into curriculum learning.
It has never been more important to teach young people about their planet and how to build a sustainable future. Our 6 week Global Goals block, aimed at P6, focuses on climate change and sustainability. By spending regular, valuable time outdoors, nature can inspire learners and empower them to take action.
We offer interventional focus sessions for children who are finding school challenging for various reasons, and work closely with schools to identify individual needs. These sessions are small groups, tailored to the needs of the group.
We strongly believe that connecting children to nature and their community is fundamental to their development and follow the forest school ethos in all our sessions, making them a child led experience . Learning how to assess and take risks, have unstructured time for free play, and learn about their natural environment outside in all weathers positively impacts their self-esteem, confidence, independence and resilience.
We offer opportunities to explore in nature, play games, craft, support friendships, facilitate tool and fire use, build confidence and offer endless opportunities to learn through PLAY!
We love to welcome families to the woods to learn new skills and share their knoweldge together. Our Forest Family Fun sessions are a chance for children to get outside with their carers, parents and grandparents, share the wonder that nature brings and make new friends, young and old.
These sessions for adults focus on reconnecting with nature, and the positive impact nature has on our physical and mental health. Led by a qualified Forest Therapy Practitioner, you will be guided through a series of sensory invitations to help you switch off from every day stresses, in a safe welcoming space where you can relax and enjoy. Like Forest School for grownups, participants get the chance to learn new skills, explore, and build connections to nature and to their community. We always end with a cuppa and something tasty!
